Effects of Textures on Hydrogen Diffusion in Nickel

چکیده
LLE Review, Volume 91 125 Introduction The transition metal–hydrogen systems have been intensively researched for many years because of the various applications of these systems. A large hydrogen solubility in some transition metals allows their use for safe and high-capacity hydrogen storage.1,2 At the other end of the spectrum, hydrogen ingress at low concentrations can induce mechanical degradation of nickel and nickel alloys and compromise the intended application of the metal.1,3 An understanding of hydrogen adsorption/desorption characteristics on, and hydrogen mobility in, the metals is needed to predict the hydrogen impact on the metal systems.

Anisotropy of hydrogen diffusion in nickel single crystals: the effects of self-stress and hydrogen concentration on diffusion
Hydrogen diffusion has an important role in solute-dependent hydrogen embrittlement in metals and metallic alloys. In spite of extensive studies, the complexity of hydrogen diffusion in solids remains a phenomenon that needs to be clarified. In this paper, we investigate the anisotropy of hydrogen diffusion in pure nickel single crystals using both an experimental approach and a thermodynamic d...
متن کاملEffects of Arginine Pretreatments on Oxidative Stress Damages and Alkaloid Content in Roots of Hyoscyamus niger under Nickel Stress
Heavy metal pollution is a worldwide problem with serious environmental consequences. The objective of the present experiment was to investigate whether arginine as nitric oxide precursor and or polyamines substrate can decrease the destructive effects of oxidative stress induced by nickel contamination in Hyoscyamus niger plant. In this study the effects of arginine pretreatment on alkaloid co...
متن کاملHydrogen Diffusion and Trapping in Electrodeposited Nickel
In an attempt to quantify grain boundary diffusion of hydrogen in nickel, permeation in electrodeposited foil has been investigated. Pinhole-free specimens were plated from a nickel sulfamate bath onto a reusable anodized titanium cathode. The microstructure was a mixture of regions of fine grains (diameters <0.1 tm) and individual grains up to 2 tm in diameter. The specimens were subjected to ...
متن کاملCatalytic Decomposition of Methane and Ethylene into the Carbon and Hydrogen
The role of nickel as catalyst on the conversion of methane and ethylene in a gas phase flow reactor in the absence of oxygen is studied. In this study, nickel in its different forms is used as catalyst. The role of pressure, flow rate, and temperature on the conversion of feed gases is investigated. The experiments have been carried out in the presence and absence of the catalysts to measure t...
